Absolute Beginner

An introductory class for adults or children who have little to no dance training or experience. This class is designed to get students familiar with the basics of a style or technique, aware of their bodies in motion, and turned on to the joys of dancing!

Master Class

1.5 or 2-hour contemporary technique class can be tailored for the needs and levels of your students and is designed to prepare dancers for a wide range of contemporary choreographic styles. It consists of conditioning, floor work, and structured improvisation, as well as an exploration of set material. Dancers will investigate their bodies as individual tools for expression with a focus on intention rather than the product. As the class cycles through set material and task-based improvisation, students build coordination, confidence, strength, and clarity of movement.

One Day Workshop

Students begin the day tuning into their bodies, aligning their inner and outer landscapes through breathwork and Yoga. Following the morning session is a contemporary technique class co-taught by 2 members of Six Degrees Dance with the aim of providing students with more individual attention and exemplars.

After lunch, students will explore creative play and improvisation structures in DanceLab, followed by a Repertory class where they will learn a portion of Six Degrees' current repertory and explore dance making based on the tools we use as a company. This workshop is normally 7 hours (9:30 - 4:30) but can be tailored to fit the needs of your school. This workshop is geared for the teenage dancer who is at an Advanced Beginner Level of Training

3 Day Intensive

Our 3-day intensive expands on and deepens the practices in our One Day Workshop. Each morning features a different somatic practice, such as Yoga or Pilates, to introduce students to the mind-body connection that is so important in dance. Our afternoon technique class is taught by a different teacher each day, providing students the opportunity to experience a variety of styles within the contemporary idiom. In DanceLab, students will delve deeper into improvisation and dance making based on themes found in Six Degrees Dance’s repertory and work both individually and in partnership to create original movement. This intensive can be geared toward teenage or pre-professional dancers at the advanced beginner to advanced level.
